Emotion vs Politics!

I've seen and heard many politicians and political commentators debate more with feeling than thought. I understand being in the heat when someone either doesn't understand they're wrong or saying something you despise. However though, fighting back with emotion in a political debate is unprofessional and sparks too much fire to resolve any issue. Moreover, policies and laws have to be thought of with careful and attentive consideration. They can not be based on emotion. For example, luckily, the government is faced with the issue of transgenders and bathrooms. This is a very heavy and emotional topic but, that doesn't in fact mean it should be dealt in the same manner it's presented to the government's eyes and ears. Though, I do see hope in politics to correct this corruption and or incorrect behavior so issues can be heightened not underscored.
